The National Needlearts Association’s (TNNA) 2nd annual Local Yarn Store Day is happening this Saturday, April 27th and to celebrate, knitwear designers have published new, exclusive patterns for the special day. These patterns are only available from participating yarn shops on LYS Day and most are free with the purchase of yarn. We rounded up a few of the many patterns that knitters will discover over the weekend as they head to their favorite LYS to support the stores that have supported their craft. Want to discover more patterns, yarn, and kits? Follow #lysday2019 on Instagram.

Note: not all stores will have access to all patterns or kits being release for LYS Day. If you’re after something specific, make sure to call your shop before you make the drive.

Something About Pheonix by Heather Walpole

Something About Pheonix is a 3-color, sport weight shawl that plays to the colorfully curated collection of Ewe Ewe’s Ewe So Sporty line. The color combos are endless, but kits just may be available to help you narrow down the fun-to-wear choices. Head to participating yarn shops and receive the pattern free when you purchase the yarn.

Magical Thinking Shawl by Casapinka

Showing off her signature multi-color and multi-texture design sense, Magical Thinking is Casapinka’s contribution to Local Yarn Store Day. Receive the pattern free with the purchase of yarn (the shawl takes 3 skeins of fingering weight yarn) at these participating yarn stores. Not sure what colors to pick? Your LYS might just have kits available from some of your favorite indie dyers.

Maremoto by Quinn Reverendo

Part shawl, part wrap, and even part jacket (just check out how it drapes when worn open!), Maremoto features 6 colors of Manos Del Uruguay’s Silk Blend, a DK weight yarn. The pattern is free with yarn purchase from the participating yarn shops. It’s just one of six patterns available from Manos Del Uruguay on LYS Day.

Circumstellar by Jen Lucas

Designed exclusively for Anzula’s LYS Day Kit, Circumstellar is a fingering weight shawl that calls for one main color and three contrast colors. The pattern will be included with the kits that will be available at these participating yarn stores.
