Marl-velous New Shades

To celebrate the launch of Loft’s five new marled colorways, Brooklyn Tweed is hosting a KAL that starts on April 17th. The Skipp Knitalong is the debut of Skipp, an everyday brioche beanie that can be knit with one or two colors. Or, if you can’t choose which one or two of the new colorways you love most, you can pick three, four, or all five and stripe your way from cuff to brim. Now through the end of April, the pattern is free with the purchase of Loft from Brooklyn Tweed or your LYS. And if you’re interested in joining the KAL, keep an eye on their Ravelry group for more details.

From Nature to Needles

Purl Soho introduces Sweetgrass, a new from-nature Fingering weight yarn that combines organic cotton and superfine alpaca into six subtle shades. The palate, which earns its colors from natural fibers such as sesame, rye flour, and walnut shell, offers a classic and unburdensome feel to scarves, shawls, blankets and more. To show off this light and breezy yarn, Purl Soho has released the free Sanddrift Blanket that fades from light-to-dark in a faux seed stitch (there is no purling!) pattern.

Love Sheep

If you’re someone who prefers sheep pics over cat videos, then click over to @campaignforwool, a global endeavor initiated by His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales (think he knows Chris Pratt?), which is hosting their first ‘Love Sheep’ photo contest. Like the name suggests, wool lovers are asked to vote for their favorite sheep photograph during the month of April. But behind the pretty pictures, the campaign serves to educate its audience about the unique, natural, renewable, and biodegradable benefits of wool. Each Instagram post offers an empowering fact about our beloved fiber, like this one which suggests that wool can actually promote a good night’s sleep. So go on, scroll through the oh-so-cute photos…your Thursday will thank you.
