Kestral Collection 2019

Quince & Co’s annual Kestral Collection is back with five new Summer patterns knit in the brand’s worsted weight Kestral, a 100% linen, in the undyed Sanza colorway. Each day this week a new pattern from a different designer will be released in support of the 2019 collection. Choose to purchase the five-pattern bundle or purchase patterns individually as they are released. Kicking off with Denis, an open lacework tee from Elizabeth Smith Knits, expect other patterns from  Allison Jane, Dawn Catanzaro, and Jerusha Neely.

Yarn For The Planet

It might be the “fabric of our lives,” but cotton can be a serious drain on our planet’s most precious resource. While it tics off many pros, the crop requires a lot of water to grow (an average, 20,000 liters of water to make 1 kilogram of cotton, to be exact). In reaction to this startling stat, the team at Lion Brand recently released Re-Up, a worsted weight yarn is made of 85% recycled cotton and 15% polyester. The modern, feel-good yarn features 14 cool, modern colors and is machine washable.

Farm To Needle

Registration is now open for Wing & A Prayer Farm’s annual New England Fiber Arts Summit happening August 28-31. Join a collection of amazing instructors and makers – including Bristol Ivy, Annie Rowden, Marceline Smith, and Taproot Magazine – during a week of knitting instruction, farm-to-table eats, a Maker’s Market shopping day, and lots and lots of cuddles from the resident sheep. Unwind at the Vermont farm while the pastoral views and the spoils of an intimate retreat setting connect you with the benefits of slow knitting.

CAST ON: Pabaigh by Kate Davies

The latest design from Kate Davies is a simple layering tee with a big impact. The tee’s modern shape is paired with an oversized, funneled neck for those cooler mornings or evenings. Worked from the bottom up and in-the-round, this knit calls for 875-1203 yards of fingering weight yarn to pair with the pattern’s nine size options.
