Learn How To Mend Your Garments

Always encouraging you to extend the life of your garments through mending, Miniature Rhino is hosting a ‘Hand Stitches for Mending’ class on April 10th. The two-hour, virtual class will teach basic hand stitching techniques – both visible and invisible – and offer tips for long-lasting repairs. A class kit, which includes a pre-printed class sampler, hoop, floss, and more, is available for participants, though not necessary for the class. For those who can’t make the April class, a second class will be held on May 8th.

Learn How To Punch Needle

Makers Mess is hosting a virtual punch needle class on April 30th. The online class will introduce participants to the art of punch needle and teach the process through step-by-step instruction. Order your kit of supplies (it will have everything you need!) by April 19th to ensure delivery before the class.

CAST ON: So Summer Shorts by Jessie Maed

Take a leap by making a (presumably) missing piece of your handknit wardrobe: shorts. From Jessie Maed Designs, this high-rise pair of drawstring shorts are available in nine sizes and worked with 405-1000 yards of fingering weight yarn. The designer chose a cotton and linen blended fiber for its drape but offers a spreadsheet of yarn options and suggestions if you want to explore other fibers. And if you’re looking to make a matching short and shirt set, check out So Summer Shirt the designer released last month.
