Verena Cohrs of Sustainablist understands that making on a budget can be frustrating. To help elevate the price tag associated with hand dyed and luxury yarns, especially yarns that have been produced ethically, fairly, and sustainably, she has created a Yarn Mail initiative to connect interested knitters with remains of yarn that was used in sample or test knits or other marketing initiatives. To get an alert when yarn is available, sign up for her email list.

CAST ON: Vintage Silver Socks + Shrug

From designer Meaghan Schmaltz, aka The Unapologetic Knitters, comes a pair of socks and a shrug that just beg to be cast on. Employing garter ridge and slip stitch techniques on both pieces, a sequential texture is hero. For the Vintage Silver Socks, use a solid color fingering weight yarn to knit from top down to let the detail shine. And for the Vintage Silver Shrug, the slip stitch texture is combined with a marled look. Combine 2 strands of DK weight to knit this cropped, wearable piece.
