But first, start planning your Halloween costume. The exact shawl worn by Laura Dern in the recently released Little Women is a pattern you might already know.

All About KAL

Kick off the new year with a finished object that looks like you spent all year making it. Starting next week, designer Stephanie Jessica Lay (aka @allaboutami) is hosting the Dotty Cardigan KAL featuring a brand new, long cardigan that is all sorts of cozy. With tons of texture and front pockets this cardigan is wearable and fun to knit. The pattern, which calls for bulky weight yarn and size 11 needles, is available now and there is already chatter in the Facebook KAL group.

Storm The Subway

For those attending next week’s Vogue Knitting Live in New York City, consider joining Kristy Glass as she and hundreds of knitters “storm” the subway. Knitters are encouraged to bring their WIP to the downtown 1 train platform in Times Square at 8:45am on January 18th. The group will ride and knit before heading back to the fun of VKL.

TNNA Goes To Creativation

Around this time (and again in June), yarn shops, dyers, and other industry insiders start chattering about “going to TNNA.” But this year, you’ll hear “Creativation” instead. This year, TNNA, which stands for The National Needlearts Association, has partnered with AfCI Global to host its winter product showcase at Creativation. The established creative industries trade event, happening January 16-20 in Phoenix, AZ, will host a “TNNA Pavilion” within the Creativation show for TNNA members to set up and show of their fiber goods and make new retail connections. Store owners are encouraged to attend and experience all this educational event has to offer.
