Meet Dapple

New to the Brooklyn Tweed collection is Dapple, a 2-ply, woolen-spun, DK weight yarn that is blended with 60% merino wool and 40% organic cotton. Domestically sourced and sustainably produced, Dapple’s 11 colorways are dyed to have a rich tonality, while the cotton “slubs” offer pops of desaturated color giving the yarn almost a heathered look. A yarn you will be proud to use in more ways than one, Brooklyn Tweed will contribute 3% profit of Dapple to the National Black Farmers Association in perpetuity to support farmers who have historically been excluded from land ownership.

Show Off At The Bay Area Fiber Fair

The Bay Area Fiber Fair, a virtual craft-a-long hosted by a group of small fiber businesses in and around San Francisco, invites you to show off your love of fiber through weekly challenges. Download the challenge sheet – which includes everything from ‘finish a liberating project’ to ‘gift a finished item to a friend’ – and post your entries to Instagram with #baffchallenge. Prize drawings will happen each Thursday through October 15th when the fair concludes.

CAST ON: Sea Aquarel by Gretha Mensen

Put your favorite mini-skein set to good use with this new shawl from Gretha Mensen. The crescent-shaped shawl uses nine colors of fingering weight yarn (you could also use two contrasting colors) and mosaic knitting techniques to create textured stripes that run tip to tip. The rhythmic flow of slipped stitches and the constant color changes keep this shawl moving along as you work it to your desired length.
