But first, cast on Casapinka’s Perfect Blend MKAL that kicks off today.

Her Knitted Majesty

Members from Petal & Purl, a knitting group in Caston, Norfolk, used their knitting powers for good when they set out to create a life-sized replica of the Queen of England from 1953 to raise funds to remodel their local church. What began as a project to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the Queen’s coronation turned into 60 woolen people depicting life from 1953. From a kitchen to a local pub, the scenes were on display to the ticketed public and available for purchase. However, inspiration is free.

DIY Crocheted Kicks

Wool And The Gang (WATG) has teamed up with shoe brand Soludos to launch their newest kit: DIY Espadrilles. Available in five different summer-perfect styles, each kit comes with a pattern, soles, skein of Ra Ra Raffia, and optional crochet hook. Or, if you’re feeling extra creative this summer, you can buy individual soles and add your own design to make a one-of-a-kind pair.

Vogue Knitting‘s New Diversity Council

Vogue Knitting magazine has announced its new Diversity Advisory Council (DAC) and its inaugural board. The eight members, all of who are prominent makers in the fiber arts community, will serve to ensure that “all —regardless of race, gender, gender identity, sexuality, religion, age, ability or access needs—feel welcome, supported and recognized by [Vogue Knitting] publications and at [its] events.” The DAC will help refocus current programs and policies while implementing new ones, like creating a mentoring program for BIPOC professionals.
