Take a Lap With Tour De Sock

Tour de Sock, a summer sock knitting event that coincides with the Tour de France, won’t be held in its original, competitive form for the 2019 season. Instead of competitors racing to finish a pair of socks for each of the six stages, this year’s informal race will be organized as a knit-a-long. Starting on July 1st and ending on August 31st, two free sock patterns will be released at the beginning of each of the six stages. Teams are still being formed over in the Tour de Sock Ravelry group so that you can knit with friends…who just may become competitors next year.

CAST ON: Heartnut Socks by Knox Mountain Knit Co.

These sweet socks, inspired by the heartnut (a nut that looks like a heart) and the oldest nut farm in Canada, feature columns of cables that run from cuff to toe. Worked from the toe-up and with an afterthought heel, use one-color of Fingering weight yarn for a monochromatic look, but also have instructions for including a contrasting toe, heel, and cuff.
