Three Cheers from Ra-Ra Raffia

Wool and the Gang has just released Raffia Crochet, their first ever pattern book. Inside the 72-page book, find 10 crochet projects that will help you create an entire collection of Summer straw accessories. Featuring some of WATG’s most popular patterns like Worn This Way Hat and Oh La La Plant Hanger, as well as new embroidery techniques, the book focuses on projects made with their Ra-Ra Raffia, a 100% long wood fiber. Now, this is what we call Summer knitting!

Fall In Love With This KAL

Tin Can Knits has been waxing poetic about their new Love Note top, so it’s about time they invited us to KAL with them. The top, which calls for a fingering weight yarn and lace weight mohair held together, features a lace yoke, customizable lengths, and blousy sleeves. Cast on the sweater anytime and knit at your own speed, though July 31st has been deemed the end date for those who work best with deadlines. Post pictures and follow the chatter on Instagram with #lovenoteKAL and #lovenotesweater, or you can join your fellow KAL’ers in their Ravelry group. Not sure what yarn to pick? Why not start with their blog tutorial about how to blend mohair and base yarn.

Chicago Yarn Crawl

Celebrating 10 years and 20 stores, the Chicago Yarn Crawl kicks off on July 27th and welcomes knitters from near and far to discover the vibrant fiber arts community of the Windy City. For nine days, Crawlers will make their way in, out, and around the city visiting yarn shop favorites or visiting new ones, including Knit 1, Three Bags Full, Yarn Hollow, and String Theory. A Crawl Passport will serve as your road map, while the Crawl Tote serves as your memory keeper. Attach a shop pin to its corresponding spot on your bag to remember the fiber, fun, and friends you experienced during this 10th anniversary crawl.

CAST ON: Sprouted by Jaqueline Cieslak

It’s the shawl edition of a choose your own knit adventure thanks to designer newcomer Jaqueline Cieslak. She wowed you with her Ursa sweater and now she has launched Sprouted, a crescent-shaped shawl that is written in four sizes. Hold two yarns together – a fingering weight merino and a lace weight mohair – to work your favorite size shawl that features classic stockinette with an inspired lace border. But don’t feel like you have to pick only one size. You can knit two and add both a short and large shawl to your wardrobe!
