MKAL With Sweet Georgia

If you’re planning out your KALendar (see what we did there?!), make room for Sweet Georgia’s Mystery Knit Along that kicks off on August 27th. This year, MKALers will be knitting Caroline Waves, a large, six-color shawl pattern from Tabetha Hedrick. Pick up a skein of each color in Sweet Georgia’s Tough Love Sock or choose from one of the pre-made color kits. Grab a kit sooner-than-later (they sold out fast last year) and/or place yarn orders by June 30th to guarantee your yarns arrival before cast on. Clues will be distributed via Ravelry pattern update through October 1st, but chatter and other updates will be hosted on Sweet Georgia’s blog.

CAST ON: Alpaca Puppet by Cindy Pilon

If you don’t have time to knit a blanket for an upcoming baby shower, consider casting on this adorable hand puppet from Cindy Pilon. This wooly toy is made with two strands of Worsted weight yarn held together – a merino and a fluffy synthetic – and US 10.5 needles. Once the puppet is finished, it gets felted and stuffed to create the moveable, imaginative toy. And if you can’t get enough of the the alpaca, you can create an entire menagerie of animal puppets, including a sloth, cat, and bear.
