Brooklyn Tweed Goes To Chicago

Spend a weekend with Brooklyn Tweed at Knit 1 in Chicago June 14-16. Over the three-day weekend, Knit 1 will welcome designer Emily Greene, instructor Stephanie Elle, sewing pattern designer Jen Beeman, and, from the Brooklyn Tweed team, Kel Moore and Luigi Boccia. Start the weekend with a Brooklyn Tweed pattern trunk show, then learn about creating a capsule wardrobe, how to tackle a complex pattern, and the subtle and not-so-subtle differences between different types of wool. The weekend culminates with a hat class lead by Emily Greene. Spots are still available for this wool-tastic weekend.

K1, Sip 2

If you can’t make it to Chicago for Knit 1’s Brooklyn Tweed event (see above), then perhaps you can make it to the 2nd annual Public Knitoxication at Leesburg, Virginia’s Fabbioli Cellars. Hosted by The Fiberists on Saturday, June 15th, this one day only pop-up market will feature knitting, shopping (from vendors including Twisted Yarn and Fiber Bags, Kim Dyes Yarn, The Fiberists, and Rising Tide Fiber Co), and plenty of wine. Knit under the influence from 12:00 – 4:30 pm at this working farm winery.

Eat, Sleep, and Meet Amy Florence

If you’re booked the weekend of June 14th, then perhaps you’ll be in Atlanta on June 29th. Amy Florence of Stranded Dyeworks will be at Eat.Sleep.Knit (which is technically in Dalla, Georgia, 45-minutes northwest of Atlanta) for an informal meet and greet. Come squish yarn, chat with the podcaster in person, and take a selfie for your Instagram feed. The fun starts at 1:00 pm .

CAST ON: Sparkling Rosé by Marie Greene

Marie Greene’s 4-Day KAL is still a month away, but if you can’t wait to cast on one of her new patterns, then check out Sparkling Rosé. This elongated triangle shawl is knit with fingering weight yarn, a size US 7 needle, and an open lacework pattern, making it a quick shawl to knit and one that is perfect for summer. To make it even more summery, take the lead from the designer and use a cotton fiber, like Zauberball Cotton.
