VKL Virtual Knitting Extravaganza

Knitrino, the forthcoming app that offers interactive knitting patterns and tutorials optimized for mobile devices, is hosting a Virtual Knitting Extravaganza as a response to the recently canceled Vogue Knitting Live Seattle due to Covid-19 virus concerns. From March 13 – March 15, Knitrino will host virtual classes (learn from Brooklyn Boy Knits, Loopy Mango, Drunk Knitter, and more) and a marketplace from those who were committed to teaching and vending at the Seattle festival. There will even be a Pajama Party Knit Night. The marketplace is open now, but tickets for the classes will be available soon.

Meet Popcycle

Just in time for summer knits, Skacel welcomes HiKoo Popcycle, a new yarn made from 50% bamboo and 50% polyester made from recycled plastic bottles. In fact, each 305-yard skein of fingering weight yarn is made from 2 recycled bottles. Available in 10 summer-inspired colorways, each with a subtle tweed, this wool-free yarn is just what your next Summer knit craves.

Beads Made Easy

Want to add beads to your next project? Clover has introduced Swift Bead, a small, hooked needle that allows beads to easily move onto the needle, but not slide off. Just push the point of the needle over and over into a container of beads to load them onto the needle. On the opposite end of the needle hook is a traditional needle yarn threader so that you can add yarn and easily slide beads from needle to yarn. Watch a Swift Bead tutorial here.

CAST ON: Traveling Afghan Square 5 by All About Ami

All About Ami’s free 10”x10” square for Two of Wands’ Traveling Afghans Project is now available. The worsted-weight square features a dot pattern created from a 4-row repeat. Add Square 5 to the four previous squares each from a different designer and then watch it grow as it travels to other designers and you continue to add squares. The afghan is currently headed to Chantal Miyagishima of Knitatude who will create and release the next Square pattern over the next two weeks.
