Yarn-A-Long With Stephen West

If you can’t make it to Amsterdam to shop at Stephen & Penelope, then let the yarn come to you. Westknits’ Yarn A Long (YAL), which goes on sale this Wednesday, March 13, is a 3-month yarn club that ships a shawl project and yarn each month May-July. Each kit will feature a hand-dyed skein in a custom colorway from a sought-after dyer (Hedgehog Fibers, Life In The Long Grass, and Walk Collection are all on board), along with one or two skeins of West Wool’s Bicycle, an exclusive Westknits pattern, and a knitting-relating gift. According to the YAL’s Ravelry Group, last year’s YAL boxes sold out within a day or two of going on sale, so make sure you set your clocks for Wednesday, March 13 at 1:00pm EST to snag your spot.

CAST ON: Elfriede by Shannon Cook

Having made its debut in Laine Magazines Issue 6, Elfriede is now available to purchase individually from Ravelry. This asymmetrical shawl, an homage to the designer’s grandmother, is knit corner to corner starting with just one cast-on stitch. Allover lacework, which resembles trees, is framed by garter stitch edging to create the cozy, oversized shawl. This one-size fits all shawl is knit with 952 yards of worsted weight yarn.
