Go Fifty Fifty With Lion Brand

Cold weather season might be coming to an end (temporarily, of course), but we will still crave those quick knit projects to get us ready for next year’s blast of cold. When those cravings hit, grab Lion Brand Yarn‘s new Fifty Fifty, a super bulky weight yarn made of a 50% wool and 50% alpaca blend. The single spun yarn is super soft, has a minimal halo, and makes for a quick knit. The company recommends US 19 needles and a 2 stitch-per-inch gauge, which allows you to take a small accessory project from cast on to bind off in just an afternoon. Available in 87-yard skeins, Fifty Fifty currently has limited quantities of its nine modern colorways.

Game Of Thrones‘ final season begins on April 14th and designer Safiyyah Talley is commemorating the epic series with an MKAL. The I Knit And Know Things MKAL will feature a one-size-fits-all, unisex brioche shawl inspired by one of the costumes on the show. Six pattern clues will be released along with each of the season’s six episodes, giving knitters plenty of time to watch and then knit, because who can pay attention to Cersei’s latest plot while counting the K1s and P2s? Kits for the MKAL are now available from Neighborhood Fiber Co, but if you’re looking to stash bust, you’ll need two contrasting skeins of DK weight yarn (275 yards each) and 350-yards of laceweight yarn mohair in a complementary color. Get chatting with fellow MKALers in the Drunk Knitter’s Ravelry thread.

CO: Plain Sight by Lisa K Ross

This free sock pattern is one that you won’t want to take your eyes off of. Knit from the toe up, Plain Sight socks offer stunning visual detail with twisted ribbing that cuts its way through the top of the sock’s instep and the all over the stockinette stitch. The ribbing leads to an intricate, yet delicate, lacework that surrounds the sock’s cuff. Best of all, through some strategic yarn overs, the gusset is hidden in plain sight. This pair of socks is sized for adult small, medium, and large and is knit with 350-450 yards of a solid colored, light fingering weight yarn.
