Good Enough Creative

Marie Greene, the creative mind and designer behind Olive Knits, has embarked on a new endeavor: Good Enough Creative, an uplifting and real podcast about the creative process. The 2o-minute (ish) episodes discuss real issues that impede or influence creative types, like getting started with a new idea or maintaining momentum during a project. Her advice and “you’re not alone” camaraderie is coupled with her cheery voice and optimism for finding your best creative self, for a podcast that is one we now have on our weekly queue. New episodes are available each Thursday.

Make + Mend Challenge

As makers, we know finding a hole (dropped stitch, snag, or otherwise) is no reason to cast a garment aside. Mending guru Minature Rhino has partnered with Fabscrap to host a mending challenge: fix any in-need garment with materials from Fabscrap, a Brooklyn-based company that sells leftover fabric from designers and fabric houses, and post to Instagram through June 15 with #MRxFABmending. Three winners will be chosen to each win a prize pack of crafty books for your library. However, the real winners will be everyone who has given a garment a second life.

Inspired by precious gemstones, this unique sweater features a stranded colorwork yoke design that depicts symmetrical objects in an organic way. Included in the “jewels” issue of Making Stories, the fingering weight sweater is now available to be purchased individually from Ravelry. In fact, if you’re looking to add more jewel flare to your knitting, all of the patterns included in the magazine’s third issue are also available for individual purchase.
