But first, check out this crocheted portrait of Ravi Malek as Freddie Mercury. We’re not worthy!

Meet Woolen!

From indie dye house Hue Loco, Woolen is a new yarn that is 100% sourced and milled in Colorado. Available in both worsted and sport weights, the yarn is a blend of 80% fine Merino, 10% Romeldale, and 10% Blue Faced Leicester (BFL). And keeping with the local, sustainable vibe, the yarn is botanically dyed and available in 30 subtly beautiful solid colorways.

All Aboard The Holly Trolley

The local yarn shops of Chicago are back again with their annual Windy City LYS Holly Trolley happening Sunday, December 8th. Sign up for your spot on the trolley that will visit all four of the north side city yarn stores, including Knit 1, Nina Chicago, Firefly Fiber Arts Studio, and Sister Arts Studio. Participants will receive a mug to refill at each stop, a tote bag full of goodies, and 10% off yarn purchases.

Pre-Order Hunter Hammersen’s New Book

Hunter Hammersen, the fanciful designer who currently has us obsessed with her mini forest scenes, is releasing her 12th knitting pattern book. Shoreland features seven new top-down sock patterns each written for fingering and DK weight yarns. Mailing list subscribers will be alerted to an earlybird pre-order time on Tuesday, November 19 when the price will be discounted by $3. The first 300 orders will get a little surprise inside their print version, too!

CAST ON: Capel Cross by Jimenez Joseph

This sweater was love at first site and would have hopped right on the needles if hadn’t been for three other sweaters currently in WIP status. Knit with sport weight yarn, this top-down cardigan features a seamless yoke with a criss-cross feature that runs around the entire circumference of the yoke. Its unique detail and texture is just the pop of wow that sets this stockinette crewneck cardi apart from the rest.
